Hillary Clinton Childhood Was OrdinaryWhen you look at Hillary Clinton you probably do not think about when she was a child and what it was like when she was growing up. How many people were in her family, where did they live, what was her father's profession, did she have a stay at home mom, or what were her dreams. You probably only think about the role she played as the former First Lady and now as a Senator from New York and a Presidential hopeful. The adult side of her life is definitely more information than her childhood, but we all know that we are molded by what we see, hear and do when we are children. Hillary Clinton was raised in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois where she was the oldest of three siblings. Her father owned and worked in his own fabric store and she had a stay at home mother who was a homemaker. Given the time period when she was born, her background is not that unusual-she had a few siblings, a working father and a stay at home mom.
Her childhood was filled with the average activities that a young girl would do and she was even a Brownie and Girl Scout when growing up. What is really significant is that she had an average life-nothing traumatic or unusual that would have cause a scandal in her family. If there is any one very important thing to note it is that her parents were both around to raise her according to their own standards and they exposed her to the church where she was instilled with her beliefs and where she learned about moral issues and values. She was very popular during her childhood and always kept busy with one project or another. She was well know for wanting to help the underdog and for everyone to be treated the same. During her years in high school she was elected to be class president, was initiated as a member of the National Honor Society, and was a member of the student council. In addition, Hillary Clinton was also on the high school debate team-who would have thought that a few years later that she would using those same skills when she campaigns for political office or when she faces her candidates in a debate. A typical childhood was available for Hillary Clinton. She had hopes and dreams just like all of her friends-some of them came true while other did not. Being an average young lady, she had high aspirations and wanted to become a lawyer. She talked about this for years and eventually her dream would come true-she would be well known and successful in her chosen career. |
