Hillary Clinton Health Care Reform Has Been Extremely ImportantOne of the most important things to Hillary Clinton has been health care reform. This was very evident to everyone when President Clinton wanted to appoint her to head a commission to look into heath care reform and to come up with a plan that would provide every single American with an opportunity to obtain reasonably priced health care. Even though President Clinton was unable to conince Congress to pass a Health Care Reform bill, there is still a strong need for health care reform and Hillary Clinton is still convinced that something can and should be done. She is not alone in this desire to reform the health care sector-there are many others who also agree that we need a new plan. Unfortunately, wanting and getting are two very different things and in spite of several tries, nothing has been accomplished.
When it comes to health care reform the public wants changes to be made. There are literally millions working hard at their jobs but they can not afford to purchase a health care plan-these plans are just too costly. When people have to make a choice between a place to live, food on the table or health care, they must sacrifice having health care and hope for the best. Today more than ever it is important that everyone be able to get health care insurance. You might not think that you are affected by the millions of people that do not have health care insurance, but you are indirectly paying for them and this indirect cost to you will continue to rise. If you are wondering how you are paying for their health care, think about the escalating health care costs today. Go to the emergency room and sit there for hours on end when you have a major problem. The room is crowded with people that have minor medical problems that a regular doctor should take of-but they do not have health insurance, so they come to the emergency room. Now, you are asking why-it is because the emergency room can not turn away anyone just because they can not pay. Health care reform is desperately needed but it might take years before the politicians can come up with a plan that they can all agree to and that is reasonably priced so that everyone can afford it. This leads to other problems as to who will pay. Should the government just provide health care to everyone regardless of their status? Or should people be required to give a percentage of their income for health care coverage. The questions can not be answered today, but with hard work, it might be possible that the politicians may come up with a health care reform plan that both parties can agree to and live with. |
